What is my Identity?

Some think their identity lies in the type of clothes they wear; the amount of money they have; how prestigious their career is or even what other people think of them but these factors should not define who you are. We shouldn’t assign our identity to materialistic things. You have characteristics inside of you that makes you, YOU. Many of us struggle and I myself have been one of them to find something that I can define myself by and be identified as.

Therefore, we need to go back to basics:

God created you.

This fact is a part of the foundation of finding out your identity.

Psalm 139:13-16 says,

For you created my inmost being;

You knit me together in my mother’s womb

 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

 My frame was not hidden from you

When I was made in the secret place,

When I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

 Your eyes saw my unformed body;

All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one them came to be.

You were perfectly crafted together by an all-knowing, wise God who makes no error. The same God that created the heavens and the earth created you. He took His ever so precious time on you. For this very reason, the only way we can find out who we are is if we go back and ask the One who created us. Like a potter that moulds the clay into whatever it pleases, the completed pottery cannot go and ask the other pieces of pottery who they are or the purpose of its creation. Surely only the potter knows that information and it’s the same with us. We must go back to our potter God Almighty to know who we truly are.

I urge you to ask God “What is my identity”, “Who am I?” and believe me He shall reveal it to you. I could continue and share what the scriptures say but I want to set you all a challenge to seek the Creator so you yourself can find out who you are and at the same time have the first-hand privilege of getting to know the Father. As He reveals Himself to you, He will also reveal YOURSELF to you.
