Patience is a Virtue

This is my gift to you for the festive period

Patience is a virtue, is a motto that I have had to learn and put into practise over the last 2 years or so. Since I left university in the summer of 2015, I feel that things have been moving slowly for me. Following the summer of graduating, I left university with a job working the tills at Harrods, I split up with my X girlfriend and I was back living with my parents. Depressing times. It has taken me a long time to get used to things over the past two years, but in the last couple of months I have slowly taught myself to enjoy the process.

In terms of a Job, I worked at Harrods for two years following graduating from university and I’m going to be honest; I hated the Job. But what I did love, was the people that I worked with, the people I met at my two years there were characters to say the least and I used their bubbly energy to fuel me through my time there. But luckily just before I was set to graduate from an MSc I undertook in Psychology last year, I was offered a job as a mental health support worker in Enfield, and even though it is not the exact job I want; I am enjoying the process of learning the skills I will need, when I do get there.

When it comes to girls, since I broke up with my university girlfriend, my love life has been as lively as a Friday night at an OAP’s care home and because of this I’ve almost ruined good friendships with girls in my life, by attempting to break free from the infamous friend zone.  But what I’ve realised in the last couple of months, is that it’s all Screen Shot 2017-12-10 at 17.37.30.pngabout timing and enjoying the process of getting to know somebody properly, before anything sexual comes into play. Mandem let me tell you from personal experience, courtship is the most important period you have whilst attempting to woo a girl, so be patient and you’ll prosper when the time is right.

Being patient is also something I’ve had to learn since moving back in with my parents. At first it was the struggle of my life. When I first moved back, all these orders I had to take where foreign to me, as I had lived by myself for the last three years. I and my Mum went through a lot of growing pains to get to the much better place we are at now. I even considered just moving out and renting, just so I could get my freedom back. But everyone I spoke to said that would be stupid and that I need to save up for a mortgage. Even with that, it’s taken over two years for that idea to sink in and for me to accept it. But now that I have accepted it, I have a goal to mortgage my own place and with patience, effort and consistently saving, I will get there.

So I’d say that the overall lesson that I’ve learnt over the last couple of years, is that anything that is worthwhile, takes a lot of time and effort to attain. It’s all a process and if you’re currently in the process, you might as well enjoy it whilst you’re there. Patience is a virtue, is definitely the mantra that I am trying to implement into my life at the moment and I think it will serve us all well in the New Year.
