Interview: Creative Christian

Tell us a bit about your business

Creative Christian is an online store designed to express The Kingdom of God through digital typographics, stationery, and home & decor. Our aim is to encourage the body of Christ to function and flourish creatively in their God given gifts and talents.

What inspired you to start?

My biggest inspiration came from the Holy Spirit coupled with my desire to see scripture and biblical concepts come to life in our homes, everyday products and lifestyle.

What were your greatest challenges?

Raising capital! I think this was the main challenge in the early stages. A lot of concepts had to go on pause simply because the funding wasn’t yet available. Though it appeared a challenge at the time, with the right advice and Godly wisdom, I was able to work on expand the business over time.

What has been the most rewarding part?

The most rewarding parts have been seeing the ideas in my notebook come to life. It is really encouraging to see biblical concepts like the Salt & Light lamp come to life.

What advice would you give to others trying to start up their own business?

If you’re thinking of starting a business here are two things to at least consider:

  • Advice: The Bible speaks about finding safety in the multitude of counsellors (Proverbs 11:14), so make sure you get as much advice and counsel as possible. You want to start a business with a safety net around you.
  • Cost: The Bible also speaks about counting the cost before building (Luke 14:28). It’s important to also assess what it’ll cost you before you build. Do you have the right resources? Are you prepared to give your time? What will it require of me? Will I need to go back to school or take a short course? All these questions once answered will help you build with excellence.

Where do you see ‘Creative Christian Store’ progressing to?

I see CC store progressing steadily and excellently over the next 5 years. I hope to see some of our products in stores! But most of all, in the near future I want CC store to give back and show support by sponsoring charities and giving back to the community.
